Under the guidance of professional and college mentors, MORE Robotics students apply what they have learned in the classroom to create innovative solutions for real-world problems. By competing in FIRST’s meticulously designed field games, presenting their work to judges, and fielding questions from industry experts, students in MORE Robotics deepen their understanding of STEM while cultivating lifelong personal and professional skills, such as project management, problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, communication, public speaking, and resiliency. Teams must evaluate their capital needs, procure equipment, and fundraise to cover their expenses, allowing students to develop their business and entrepreneurial skills as well.
Most visibly, MORE Robotics designs and builds industrial-sized robots that compete in a challenging field game. Each January, FIRST announces the season’s objectives and guidelines to its over 4,000 competing teams, and teams have about two months to prepare their robots for the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) regional events.
Along with investing in the future workforce, your support for MORE Robotics includes many benefits, including having your organization’s logo on our robot, official team uniforms, and printed materials; mentions on St. Thomas More’s social media pages, which reach over 6,000 potential customers; and a visit by the team’s robot to your workplace!
