STM Launches Legacy Giving Society

October 7, 2025: Catholic high school St. Thomas More announced Thursday the launch of the Cornerstone Society, a legacy giving community uniting donors who have pledged an estate gift to the southside school.
The 600-student school has received bequests in the past, including a $13 million gift from the estate of 1943 St. Francis Minor Seminary alumnus Leonard Gigowski after his passing in 2015. The launch of the Cornerstone Society brings together individuals who have included STM in their estate plans or are considering doing so. By joining this community, members will be recognized and can connect with other legacy donors. Together, they will have the opportunity to visualize and influence the impact their gifts can create for decades to come.

“Our students have always been supported by the generosity of generations of Cavaliers who came before them,” said STM President John Hoch. “Now, that tradition of preparing the way for younger generations has a formal place in our school in the Cornerstone Society, which lets us celebrate these legacy donors now without needing to wait for their passing to show our gratitude.”

Members of the Cornerstone Society, so named because legacy gifts establish a lasting foundation for STM to carry out its mission long into the future just as Christ’s gifts are the cornerstone on which the Church is built to carry out His teachings, will enjoy special recognition in STM publications, exclusive events and communications throughout the year, and special considerations as the school maps out its vision and strategies for the future.

Those who have already named STM in their estate plans, including wills, trusts, beneficiary designations, and other methods, or who would like to learn more about this type of giving, should contact STM Development Director Jim McLaughlin at mclaughlinj@tmore.org for more information or to notify STM of a legacy gift you have already pledged.
