2023 Athletic Hall of Fame / Wall of Champions Induction

St. Thomas More High School
St. Thomas More High School will induct eight alumni into the Athletic Hall of Fame and six teams into the Coach Jim Haluska Wall of Champions on Saturday, October 14th.

When the Coach Jim Haluska Wall of Champions was dedicated in September 2015, it set us on a journey to recognize the truly outstanding teams from our school’s history. We also look back at the excellent performances of individual athletes throughout their high school careers. As we move through these outstanding teams and individuals chronologically, we are proud to welcome these six teams and eight individuals to the Wall of Champions and Athletic Hall of Fame.

The eight teams inducted this year are from the 1981-82 and 1982-83 school year – cross country, football, and wrestling – and were coached by Jim Haluska, Norb Wishowski (DB ’54), Tom Knitter, Mike Fons (DB ’66), and Larry Florek (DB '62). The individuals inducted – wrestler Mike Baer (TM '78), football player and wrestler Greg Baker (TM '82), football and basketball player Bob Bishop (TM '80), football and basketball player Tom Bishop (TM '82), basketball player Gary Campbell (TM '83), football player and wrestler Jay Labecki (TM '82), wrestler Tom Nolan (TM '76), and football and baseball player Mark Rutkowski (TM '81) – each have resumes that speak for themselves, and they elevated their teams to championship levels.
