Farewell, Linda Janick

Since 1987, Linda Janick has been a steadying presence in the main office at St. Thomas More High School. She has worked with eight different principals and eight different presidents during her career at STM and has worked with hundreds of teachers and thousands of students. She is retiring from STM this Friday, and we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation for her 36 years of service to our school community.

Beginning in 1998 and continuing through her retirement, Linda served as the STM staff coordinator for the Students Against Destructive Decisions club. During these 25 years, SADD became an increasingly important student organization at STM. Linda’s tireless efforts with SADD benefited countless students and influenced many people.

More students became involved in SADD after the tragic death of Jennifer Ramus (TM '99), who was killed by a drunk driver during the middle of her senior year at St. Thomas More. Jennie’s memory lives on at STM through the Jennifer Ramus Endowed Scholarship Fund, commonly known as the “Jennie Fund,” The Jennie Fund provides need-based scholarships to students participating in SADD.

Jennie's parents, Wayne and Theresa Ramus, initiated the Fund in 1999 to engage young people and prevent future tragedies. Twenty-five years later, the Jennie Fund has raised some $500,000 and awarded 400+ scholarships to SADD members.
