Art Show Detail

Berenise Soto Ochoa

Throughout my experience with art, I have been taught to come up with an intent and a meaning in my art that shows my emotions. My sustained investigation, “How can I portray my experience with loneliness through my art?” has forced me to push my boundaries when it comes to art and my emotions.  I often struggled with showing my emotions with my art, I tried to separate the two as much as possible. As my art changed, I was able to follow my question more accurately, correctly conveying mood and emotions through my art.
As a digital artist I have gone through different ways to render my art, paint backgrounds, and experiment with my ideas overall. Digital media was used to create my works, I like how it can mimic some traditional media but allow still allows me to easily fix my mistakes. Though sometimes digital media can be difficult, my program crashes or an artwork gets corrupted which would prevent me from accessing my artwork again and would force me to start over.

I used to only focus on creating art that made me happy, like fanart or creating my own stories, but I never liked to focus on art that truly represented myself and my feelings. But now I tried to focus on myself and my stories, trying to find the correct way to create art and represent them. I had a fear that I would incorrectly convey my own feelings, I felt as if I didn’t have enough artistic knowledge to make something meaningful. Eventually I overcame that fear and continue to make art that was more meaningful than before.
