I am so very grateful to those of you who could join us in person this year. The hustle and bustle of the holidays keeps us moving and grooving, so hopefully you were able to move and groove right on into the Learning Commons to see the work up close and talk to the artists who created it.
The beginning of the year in AP Studio is always hard. It’s one of the first times that these students are not told what to do.
Students start out small and tight, but then a beautiful mess comes about. They discover how to work bigger, experiment with new media, use the Art Mantras, and develop a body of work that allows them to create more without second-guessing themselves.
The students really come to depend on each other. They realize they need to talk to each other and me just as much as creating the work. Building a creative community within our studio space helps them become more self-sufficient, confident artists.
A lot of decision-making happens over the course of this semester, and I hope you enjoy the work they have chosen to show you. These students have worked hard to cultivate a body of work to share with you.
I assure you that the time and effort that each student put into every piece they have created has paid off. You are witnesses to that for our Spring Art Show. I hope you enjoy.
Happy and Safe Holiday Season,
