Mental Health Resources

Mental health resources have never been more important as schools navigate the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recent research found that Generation Z (ages 10-25) is twice as likely to experience feelings of depression than older adults, and more than half of Wisconsin’s high school students reported struggling with anxiety.
Responding to this public health crisis, St. Thomas More partners with Rawhide Youth Services to provide our students with mental health counseling services. Coming out of the pandemic, St. Thomas More saw a lot of students struggling with their mental health but unable to get the support and services they needed. Families were continually told by potential providers that they “were not taking new clients” or that “there is a six- to nine-month wait period.”

As a result, STM Student Services and Administration made a focused effort to see how we can better meet the needs of our students as they navigate the difficult teenage years. After researching and meeting with several options, STM decided to enter a partnership with Rawhide Youth Services.

Rawhide has been a real game changer in our school in terms of helping to make mental health services more accessible to STM students. A Rawhide therapist is available in the STM Student Services department two to three days a week.

The Rawhide team has been very professional and has made an immediate impact on the lives of the STM students that they serve. Families do not have to worry about scheduling appointments or transportation, and everything is handled by STM Student Services and Rawhide.
